Entry requirements
None. The course is introductory. Given the nature of this course, it may not be suitable for those of a sensitive disposition. The teaching material will include actual crime scene photos/videos which some may find distressing.
Course description
The course aims to introduce the role of archaeology in forensic investigation and its use for the search and location of buried remains. Police structure and procedures at crime scenes will be outlined, as well as the identification of animal and human remains and the paramount role of taphonomy. Modern and ancient crime case studies will be presented and discussed. The course follows a multidisciplinary approach.
